Cleaning & Care

Congratulations!

Your new epoxy surface for your home is hard-wearing, easy to clean and typically does not require any ongoing maintenance.

However, in order to keep your surface looking it's best, you should follow a regular or incidental cleaning regime. This will minimise ongoing wear and tear on your surface.

Post-Installation Care

While your epoxy system is extremely hard wearing, it must be allowed to fully cure prior to being walked or driven on, in order to prevent damage. Surface curing times vary by system and you should consult directly with your applicator for this information.

Routine Care Guide

The extent and frequency of routine maintenance will depend on many factors, such as usage and activity level. Routine maintenance may include sweeping, mopping or hosing the surface, depending on its location and accessibility.

Cleaning

Cleaning your surface is key to maintaining its appearance and removing abrasive contaminants. Use a microfibre mop, floor mop, or hose with a brush or broom. For best results, use a pH-neutral cleaner or APC 600C Clean with water and the above agitation methods. Ensure all listed instructions on your chosen cleaning product are followed. For textured surfaces, a stiff broom may be used.

Do not use abrasive or corrosive cleaners, as they can discolour or damage the surface. Avoid using hard-bristled brooms or brushes on high gloss surfaces, as these may scratch the surface of the coating.

Sweeping

Regular sweeping is essential for maintaining your surface. Surface dirt and loose debris are unsightly and extremely abrasive. To remove them effectively:

- Use brooms, brushes or vacuums for smaller areas.

- Use microfibre mops for dust on smooth finishes.

- Avoid stiff bristle brooms or brushes on high-gloss surfaces.

High Gloss Surface Advisories

High gloss surfaces, such as Metallic Marble®, Plain Epoxy or Ultra Flake®or Hyper Flake® in a Diamond Finish, are especially susceptible to scuffing and scratching due to their glossy finish and the abrasiveness of grit and dirt. To maintain their high-end appearance, it's recommended to use APC 600C Clean and APC 600S Shine regularly.

Avoid moving heavy furniture without mechanical assistance and use rubber or felt furniture pads on items that are moved frequently, such as dining chairs and stools. Following these simple advisories will help keep your surface looking new for years to come.

Stains & Spills

While your epoxy surface is resistant to staining and discolouration, it is important to clean spills and chemical contaminants promptly. This will prevent the possibility of staining, as prolonged or extended exposure to some chemicals may result in staining of your surface, especially those that are acidic or corrosive. Note that staining is purely aesthetic and does not impact the surface's mechanical properties.

Surface Scratching and Polishing

Scratches and scuffs on your surface may appear as part of general wear and tear. To minimise the appearance of these and prevent further damage, apply a floor polish such as APC 600S Shine or similar. It is advised to apply one or more coats to further protect the surface from scratching.
